I stumbled onto the joy of having chickens in the yard quite by accident. I quickly became connected to the entire experience from feeding them kitchen scraps to the gift of eggs in return. I continue to discover the variety of hens and their coloured eggs. And as my collection of hens grew (along with too many eggs to eat) I began giving away eggs as gifts. They are an excellent gift when invited to dinner, or to those who do not have fresh free run chicken eggs.
Food security is becoming an issue for most of us and these birds help here too.
Generally these birds are easy to care for and with a little attention most issues can be resolved easily and quickly.
